Lighting plots for iPhone. The one below works, so drag a lamp.
Walk the set with the phone pointed at the floor, like Apple's Measure app. Tag talent's mark, then camera, then every head. Tap Done and you've got the plan.
Aim the dot at the mark and tap +. Do the same where the camera goes.
Pick a head from the rail, tag where its stand goes, then set the head height. Undo or delete a tag as you go.
The tags are laid out top-down, camera at the bottom looking up, with the same numbers. Send it from there.
LiDAROn an iPhone Pro with LiDAR you see the room as a wireframe while it scans, so you know which corners it has got.
Floor planIf the location sent a floor plan, tap two spots on it you can find in the room, like a door frame and a corner, then tag the same two in AR. The lamps land on the plan.

One plan, three setups. Each remembers which lamps are on. Try keys 1, 2 and 3 on the plot above.
An A4 PDF with the plan, gear list, head heights and power. Or the plan as an image, or a text list with one line per head for WhatsApp. You get one last look at the names before it goes. See the sheet filled in from your plot.
Add the plan from Photos or Files, PDFs included, and set the room size in metres. It sits faintly under the lamps, and AR tags can be lined up with it.
Name the scene. There's no account to make. On set, point the phone at the floor and tag talent, the camera, then each lamp.
Done lays the tags out top-down. Drag the camera, talent or a lamp. Duplicate or mirror a head, or add lamps from the library.
A grid or snoot narrows the beam, a softbox or a frame of 216 opens it. Key to fill and amps update as you go. The figures are estimates, and the sheet says so.
Gaffer sheet, plan image or text list, through the share sheet. One page for the gaffer, the best boy and whoever is on the genny.
Grey circles labelled light, a phone turned sideways, and paying before it'll save. Those apps got us through a lot of shoots. They haven't changed much since.
From App Store listings, makers' pages and reviews, October 2026. A dash means we couldn't confirm it.
The plan for the setup, then every head with its modifier, gel, distance, light at the subject and amps. Then the power, circuit by circuit, against 16 A. The app's sheet adds each head height from AR.
It's black on white, so it survives the photocopier on the truck. Lit lamps are filled in black instead of yellow.
Change the plot at the top and this sheet changes with it.
